Behind the scenes recap of 2021
Dec 31, 2021
This afternoon I decided to reflect on what a year it has been.
I wasn't going to do a big wrap up this year due to desperately needing some time out of the office (aka get off the laptop and switch the brain off for a rest over the festive season!) but I feel I owe this recap to my amazing team, clients and you all who have supported Mallee Marketing.
Firstly, I want to say a special thank you to Mallee Marketing's clients for coming along for the ride this year.
I am so proud of all of your amazing achievements and I am grateful to be given the opportunity to work with you all.
2021 is the second year of business.
Due to the growth of the business, I decided to restructure in June from Sole Trader to Proprietary Limited.
I expected to make this shift after 3-5 years in business not within 14 months of operation!
Thank you for supporting Mallee Marketing and for contributing towards this fast growth.
There are MANY highlights I could talk about from this year, but you don’t have all afternoon, so here are a special few projects and achievements close to my heart:
We worked with 27 new rural/agri organisations in 2021 on top of our usual 12 clients.
That's 39 businesses now that we have been able to help promote and share their unique stories in the rural, regional and ag industry. Such an honor!
We designed 17 websites.
I will be honest, some website projects nearly broke us they were so HUGE. But we stepped up to the challenge, learned a lot and had many rewarding experiences throughout each build.
Along with our websites, social media management services, podcast and video production, this year we dived more into stud stock filming and promotions to support online selling platforms (like AuctionsPlus & Stocklive).
We filmed and photographed thousands of rams for online selling platforms.
Hours and hours of YouTube video uploads.
Lost count of how many photos we captured this year along with drone flight time.
Filled up many SD cards, drained and recharged a lot of camera/drone/audio equipment batteries.
Exported many polished/edited feature, tutorial, promotional videos.
Explored a lot of SA throughout travels for work (and some of Vic before border restrictions).
Clocked up 35,000 kms in the Hilux (not too bad I thought!)
We helped a stud completely rebrand and change the name of their business which was so special and rewarding.
Mallee Marketing will be producing a documentary early 2022 for this progressive and passionate farming family business to share their story which I am incredibly excited about.
I was invited to join Rural Media & Communicators SA/NT as a committee member this year.
Mallee Marketing sponsored the RMC Rural Photojournalist Award Category for the first time this year.
Congratulations Bec Whetham who won the best rural photojournalist award category!
I couldn't believe Lameroo Off Shear drone photos I took were 'highly commended' in the RMC Nature/Rural Scenes/Landscape Photography award category sponsored by PIRSA.
I was in awe of all the entries submitted by SA and NT photographers, communicators and journalists at the awards. What a fantastic way to celebrate rural media and communications in SA & the NT!
Another 2021 highlight was watching a client sell a Poll Merino ram for $88,000.
The bidding activity was incredible at this particular sale and it was an honor to support this stud with video editing, marketing and communications this year.
The anticipation was unreal as many people watched (in person or online) the high bidding activity until finally the hammer knocked down at $88k for this ram and then continue to drive incredible prices for the remaining lots at auction.
I also proudly mentored four talented, ambitious and driven individuals to start their very own small businesses this year! I am incredibly passionate about empowering rural people to follow their dreams, take risks and work towards their big life goals - especially when it comes to starting a business from 0.
Mallee Marketing spent $20,000+ on business coaching, marketing training and education in 2021.
I believe in the importance of continuing to expand knowledge, gain new insights and strategies to action for our clients and teach the people who come to me for coaching and mentoring.
Cameras, lenses, computer, software, drone equipment was also gradually upgraded across the last 12 months.
